Office Building

Stage: Permit/Construction Drawings

Project description

The design of the new Uganda High Commission chancery building respects the existing heritage architecture in Ottawa’s Sandy Hill neighbourhood. Many of the surrounding residential buildings have red brick façades with dark accents as reflected in our exterior elevations. The building footprint is optimized for the space available on the property and the use of multiple façade materials, gables at the top level, and peak accents on two sides provide visual interest and further complement the streetscape. Large windows will provide ample natural light for the interior office spaces, and the rooftop patio is designed to be a private retreat for lunch breaks and high-commission gatherings. The front entrance is hidden and protected to facilitate security. Ramps offer accessible access to the front door from the back and front of the building.
