Indigenous Centre Fit-up

Stage: Construction/Permit Documents

Project description

This new fit-up for the Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health (original building by renowned architect Douglas Cardinal) is designed to support an expansion of their program into the existing building next door at 299 Montreal Road. The design employs motifs of wood and symbolic elements to transform conventional office space into a warm and inviting Indigenous Recreational Space. Key features include a smudging circle with allusions to sweat lodges and the sacred fire, drying racks, ample storage for art supplies, and a conference/work room. Drawing on his extensive experience with Indigenous projects, Marco Ianni led the design, collaborating with our design team to complete the renders and drawings that will help realize this vision with the client and their contractor.
